Over the past four decades, restorative dialogue has evolved in many different forms. And while it primarily serves as an alternative method within a criminal justice context, applications have broadened widely in schools, workplaces, faith communities, and prisons. Today, restorative justice is a leading voice internationally for addressing mass violence and historical harm.

Guno Ritfeld
Guno Ritfeld is a retired Department of Defense Commissioned Officer. He has earned a B.A. in Psychology/Education, a Juris Doctorate (J.D.), and a Master of Laws (LL.M.) degree.
He is certified by the Florida Supreme Court as a Circuit Civil, Family, and County mediator and has served as a County mediator at the Orange County courthouse. He served as a member of the City of Orlando Certification Appeals Board and Chapter 57 Discrimination Board, and as a contract Human Rights Mediator and Administrative Investigator for various state and federal agencies. He is an experienced commercial, workplace, and family dispute mediator and arbitrator.
I think this is a great process for victims and offenders. The victims get to express how they felt and the offender gets the opportunity to see how their behavior affected the victim and to make restitution.
It’s nice to see that victim offender mediation is becoming more widespread for the fact that it is helpful for victims to be able to be heard.
