Short Course Description

Join Dr. SaraHoefler to learn about Kenneth Garrett's first-hand experiences with spiritual abuse along with input from leading mental health professionals. Garrett is the author of "In the House of Friends: Understanding and Healing from Spiritual Abuse in Christian Churches" and a contributing member to the International Cultic Studies Association. Abuse takes many forms. One form less spoken about, yet established in our society is spiritual abuse. It can be easily mislabelled as spiritual zeal or even spiritual maturity and is devastating to its victims. It can appear in all faiths and in various forms - as interpersonal violence between a couple, from a leader of any faith inflicting abuse upon one single member, or a religious organization inflicting abuse upon an entire group.

    Spiritual Abuse
    5

This was very informative. I don’t usually equate the church with abuse but this course highlighted clearly concerns regarding spiritual abuse.

    Excellent content about abuse
    5

Focus is on spiritual abuse, but content can relate to all forms of abuse, tips on spotting narcissistic behavior and dangers of isolation from normal/healthy relationships. Highly recommend.
