Short Course Description
This course introduces the Emotional Intelligence (EI) concept, the impact of EI on the world of business, especially in the areas of leadership and employee development.
Some of the topics covered:
- what is EI and what are characteristics of emotional intelligent individuals;
- how leaders and professionals (including mediators and attorneys) can use this theory to assess their own emotions;
- how to use EI to better understand other people’s emotions;
- what is the EI impact on performance;
- understand the role of EI in increasing personal success;
- how to use EI as a change management strategy.

Guno Ritfeld
Guno Ritfeld is a retired Department of Defense Commissioned Officer. He has earned a B.A. in Psychology/Education, a Juris Doctorate (J.D.), and a Master of Laws (LL.M.) degree.
He is certified by the Florida Supreme Court as a Circuit Civil, Family, and County mediator and has served as a County mediator at the Orange County courthouse. He served as a member of the City of Orlando Certification Appeals Board and Chapter 57 Discrimination Board, and as a contract Human Rights Mediator and Administrative Investigator for various state and federal agencies. He is an experienced commercial, workplace, and family dispute mediator and arbitrator.
This course provides information about how to get in touch with emotions, capacity to feel emotions, and emotional intimacy. Also, the ability to connect with others, emotional awareness and sensitivity, and tuning into your senses are discussed. It makes emphasis on changing our maps of reality, trusting feelings, and considering underlying motives.
