Short Course Description
Course Title: Literacy: Helping Students Construct Meaning
Duration: Self-paced, to be completed within a 6-month timeframe. Instructor support included.
Credits: Professional Development Education: 45 hours or 4.5 IACET CEUs.
Purpose: This course aims to provide pre-service and in-service teachers with the knowledge, strategies, and techniques necessary to assist students in becoming literate. Aligned with the Common Core State Standards (CCSS), the course emphasizes practical literacy lessons and authentic examples of children's literature to demonstrate effective teaching of reading and writing. Participants will explore assessment methods, instructional frameworks, and responsive teaching practices to support diverse learners in K–8 classrooms.
